The genetic capacity of plants in a changed biome
As the weather dramatically has tilted toward deep long soaks and away from the late summer heat systems that collide producing a quick rain, I began to wonder " What is the growth capacity of the native trees, shrubs and flowers with such a shocking amount of water?". In other words , due to rains that dump 2-7 inches in an hour do these plant forms have the genetic "capacity" to grow and grow and ......as tall and full as Jack's beanstalk did? I mean it's a wait and see naturalist's paradise ( and also a terrifying hell of sorts ).
I have seen my witch hazel's, elderberry ,spirea, sweet gum , to name a few, grow 2-5 feet . I went out into my property the other night and was finally in a FOREST ! It was amazing to see. I thought it would take years for this kind of growth. So, the moral here is "wait and see and keep your carbon footprint minuscule ". And as always, be kind to each other.
Bye for now friends,
Lisa
